This will be short and to the point. For seven years Republicans campaigned on being conservative and on repealing the Affordable Care Act, “Obamacare.” On the strength of that, we, the American people, elected them to a majority in the Senate and House of Representatives in 2010. And, on November 8th, 2016, additional members were elected under the Republican banner and a President who had promised repeal of “Obamacare” was also elected. Now Republicans have a majority, and some of them don’t like the President so are determined to sully his Presidency by acting like a bunch of spoiled children.
Frankly, the nation would have been served equally poorly by a Democrat majority although it gags one to think of it. Republicans are inept, but Democrats are vicious, self-serving, corrupt “sub-human” psychotics. Michael Savage wrote that “Liberalism is a Mental Illness” and any sane being is compelled to agree one hundred percent. But this batch of Republicans slither in the swamp with the grace of a drunken elephant, it angers and sickens right thinking Americans.
Now what? It was Shakespeare’s Hamlet who said,
“To be, or not to be--that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing end them.”
The root of this imbroglio is political careerism, whether Republican or Democrat...the compulsion to be re-elected, putting one’s political career ahead of what was promised to the voters. And the voters made it plain that they wanted repeal of the Affordable Care Act, with or without a replacement.
Now is the time to oppose anyone who voted against the repeal of the Affordable Care Act. McCain may have done the Nation a favor by voting against the most recent iteration of the legislative circus. If they had any integrity at all, they would repeal it and let the chips fall where they may. Of course, the writer understands the implications, the media and Democrats would howl like stuck pigs, which they effectively are, but they would soon “die,” the howls would cease, and the Nation could get on with business.
The Congress ordinarily would never vote for something that undermines their collective careers, but it’s time that voters forced the issue. Write them respectfully but forcefully that this “Barbra Streisand” (BS) has got to cease...NOW!
