Impeach Obama? Not in Your Wildest Dreams
September 21, 2010

Some weeks ago, Senator Tom Tancredo called for the impeachment of President Obama. Personally, I think Mr. Tancredo is posturing and pandering to the more politically extreme in the country. And impeachment is something a portion of our society may well wish for, or even think is deserved. I’ve even begun to see a few bumper stickers on the streets calling for impeachment. But, let’s take a realistic look at this.

Under the current structure of Congress, impeachment of this President simply isn’t a possibility. One of our Constitutional checks and balances has gone among the missing right now.

Given the absolutely monstrous spending which will damage the American economy for decades, and the avowed "redistribution of wealth” and seizure of American corporations. Many Billions handed to some of the richest CEO’s and corporations in the world, as well as the generally abominable decisions that President Obama’s made in many areas of his Presidency; impeachment may even be something that’s considered deserved by the more hard-right elements of society. And they have the right to express that wish.

Just don’t expect it to happen.

Yes, impeachment is allowed for as one of the protections lodged within the Constitution. Anyone who knows me, knows I’m not considered even close to being a "fan” of President Obama. But let’s be honest and look at the issue of a Presidential impeachment through a lens of realism.

Impeachment is allowed in the event that the President is grossly unfit or incapable of carrying out the duties of his office. If he commits "high crimes and misdemeanors.” And given the blatant Constitutional abuses of this Administration, it might even be considered deserved by some.

No President has trampled on the American people and their Constitutional rights in quite the manner this President has, nor with the impunity he’s shown. A "world-wide apology tour?” Abject failure to secure our nations southern borders. This despite the well-documented threat to the country?

And let’s mention the Czars. Thirty-four of them? Where in the Constitution does it say that President Obama is allowed to appoint them? Or that he’s allowed to appoint so many? Or that he can appoint Czars that aren’t vetted or confirmed by Congress? Or that he’s allowed to short circuit any accountability by the Czars to Congress, the Judicial branch, or the people?

Where in the Constitution does it say that President Obama is the only one whom they report to or who can give them direction? Where do the powers of the "czars” originate? How do they give any lawful order? And if they have no authority and give an order, would a person obeying that czar’s illegal order be committing an illegal act?

Of course they would!

I can’t find the authority to appoint these Czars anywhere within the Constitution or law. The authority isn’t there, but the President just trampled right ahead with it.

However, in order to impeach the President, you have to have a bill of impeachment that passes through the legislature. (No capital letters needed in the spelling of this particular ”legislature!”) Impeachment just isn’t going to happen with this consortium of political patsy’s and sycophants in control of both the Senate and Assembly.

So, don’t wish for or advocate the impossible. Don’t militate for impeachment.

Instead, go to the polls and vote against the current incumbency which has created the economic, social, taxation, illegal-immigration and legal mess we’re currently laboring under.

That’s our protection now. Vote against these little tin-pot dictators who clothe themselves in "transparency and change.”

When what they really mean is, "vote for keeping me in power with my boot on your throat.”

The nation as a whole can do better than this current crop of disingenuous, self-serving, arrogant bums.

And in November, I believe we will.
