Transparent in Audacity Only
September 15, 2009

The American people, left and right, by and large opposed TARP, seeing it as corporate welfare with numerous government strings attached. President Bush persisted and both candidates McCain and Obama rushed to Washington to vote the monstrosity into existence. What was transparently obvious was that no politician gives anyone money without expecting something in return, whether it is direct remuneration, influence or political support. Healthy banks were forced to take TARP funds and not allowed to repay them since that would sever the government string attached to that money.

The American people, mostly from the right but with some from the left, by and large opposed Obama’s stimulus package. Again, they were ignored by Democrats and some Republicans, who passed the legislation. It was transparently obvious to most people that the spending was unconstitutional, provided a political slush fund for activists organizations, added to our out of control national debt and was based on the nonsensical belief the government could spend the nation out of debt and recession.

The American people by and large were against any government assistance, with or without strings attached, to GM and Chrysler. What was transparently obvious was that the assistance was a payoff to the UAW, government ownership interest was unconstitutional, those companies would not recover and the debt would never be repaid. Nonetheless, that legislation passed as well.

The only thing transparent about this President and Congress, Democrat and most Republicans alike, is the lust for power that hides behind every lie, every utterance and every action they take to pass legislation despite popular opposition. It is also transparently obvious that the vast sums of money appropriated are not carefully tracked and there is no intention to do so lest the public finds out where the money actually goes. So it goes with Obamacare. What is transparently obvious is that another government move is afoot to take over another segment of the economy, emplace a massive bureaucracy of self-serving bureaucrats, plunder the funds for political and personal gain and peddle influence.

Obamacare will pass, just as did TARP, the stimulus package and the Gubmint Motors takeover despite popular opposition. Are these people concerned about re-election? What should be transparently obvious is they are not concerned because they have that all figured out too. Democrats may lose a few seats but will retain a majority in Congress. Republicans counting their 2010 chickens before they hatch are about to learn a hard lesson on the cost of being civil with the uncivilized and playing the default choice when voters choose the “lesser of two evils”. Obama, Pelosi and Reid all know the legislative agenda and don’t give a damn what the public thinks because the “public” is going to change very quickly.

If Obamacare passes, which I believe will, expect Obama to grant amnesty to illegal aliens. It is part of the “deal” and Democrats that haven’t figured that out yet soon will. Expect Obama, Pelosi and Reid to push legislation for a fast track to citizenship, otherwise known as greasing the rails to the voting booth. It will pass because without it Democrats can kiss Congress goodbye. Expect federal funding of a massive voter registration drive to make sure these “new citizens” are not deprived of their right to vote, beginning in November, 2010. If the Democrats have done their homework, the numbers will break their way. If the main stream media provides the expected support, the swing voters will fall their way.

Communists and socialists have never been closer to taking over the United States and they know this is no time for timidity. Ignoring popular opinion is part of the game plan, as is marginalizing any opposition. It worked for three massive spending bills and it will work again. Some Democrats may lose their seats, but taking a hit for the party is a call to duty they will answer. Besides, as long as they control Congress post 2010, Democrats will control redistricting as a consequence of the census and the lost seats may be regained in 2012.

If you think this scenario is too audacious, think again. It took audacity to pass spending bills, against public opinion, that have crippled our economy yet claim they are working. It took audacity to produce a report branding people as right-wing extremists for holding beliefs contrary to those of the left. It took audacity to appoint radicals and criminals to cabinet positions and as czars. It took audacity to ask citizens to report the names of other citizens opposed to Obamacare. It took audacity for the White House to claim they didn’t know about the 9/12 demonstration in Washington. This administration and its consorts in Congress, the courts and the main stream media suffer no shortage of audacity.

“L'audace, l'audace, tojours l'audace!”

If they win, we lose our freedom and our voice. If they lose, they go into private practice as consultants, lobbyists and speakers. What to do about it? Hmm…
