No Peace at Any Price
November 29, 2008
For nearly 61 years, Israel has been under siege. The name of that
nation has become synonymous with the expression “Middle East Crisis”.
The only peace the Middle East has seen has been the interludes that
follow the defeat of the besieging armies. Those armies limp away from
the battlefield and immediately start preparing for the next siege.
Israeli cities have been under constant attack from hostile forces in
Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank in those so-called interludes of peace.
How many rocket bombardments, terrorist bombings and armed incursions
must Israel endure before it responds? How many “peace plans” will that
nation have to endure to satisfy the egos of meddlers seeking “peace
prizes” and similar trophies of international recognition?
The first truth that must be acknowledged is that Israel has no right to
exist. The existence of any nation is dependent on its willingness and
ability to maintain its borders against the hostile intentions of any
other nation. Obtaining an agreement from the Islamic nations
acknowledging Israel’s “right to exist” is an idiotic pursuit of
meaningless words. Need we be reminded that Poland had a “right to
exist” just prior to the invasion by Germany and the Soviet Union. Need
we also be reminded that the nations that pledged to support Poland were
totally unprepared to do so and could only look on as that country was
subjected to Nazi and Communist brutality of unimaginable proportion?
Given the history of Islamic pledges to infidels, obtaining an agreement
of Israel’s right to exist is worthless at best and deceptive at worst.
The second truth that must be acknowledged is that the Western nations
that claim to support Israel’s “right to exist” are in a delicate
balancing act between doing what is right and what is expedient. Oil is
the culprit and the United States in particular has foisted this dilemma
upon itself. Our foreign policy is dictated more by our stupidity
regarding domestic energy production than by any sense of right and
wrong. We are in the difficult and self-imposed position of attempting
to defend Israel while not offending the Islamic oil producers. It is an
impossible position to resolve given the Islamic dogma that once land
has become Muslim, it must always be Muslim. No “peace plan”, “roadmap
to peace” or phony accords will change the Koran’s dictates.
The third truth is that most of the world is basically anti-Semitic, or
more precisely anti-Jewish. World leaders and the international press
express concerns about the “proportionality” of the Israeli response in
Gaza while ignoring the constant assault against Israel from Gaza. I
doubt that any of these world leaders would have similar concerns about
“proportionality” when defending their nation’s borders. The
international press is the worse of the lot however, ignoring the daily
rocket bombardment of Israeli cities while highlighting Israeli
“atrocities” or “over-reaction” in Gaza and otherwise giving the Arabs
favorable coverage. This bias is not so much pro-Islamic as it is
anti-Jewish given the left leanings of these “journalists”. There is no
other explanation. The unnatural alliance between Islamic and god-less
states against Israel is perfectly understandable from a religious
perspective. Nations that claim to be Christian and condemn Israel’s
actions to defend itself have much to explain since Christianity
recognizes Jews as the chosen people.
The fourth truth is that Islam will never accept the existence of a
Jewish state on lands they claim as their own. The world has endured a
number of Islamic spasms of jihad against all non-Muslims. That will
never end and Israel just happens to be the most proximate target.
Israel is the front line of the Islamic jihad against the world. India,
Thailand, Philippines, Chechnya, Kosovo and Lebanon are theaters of the
Islamic holy war that will never end. The vanguards of that war have
reached those nations that blindly tolerate a religion that openly
expresses hostility to their very existence. Islam is no different than
Nazism or Communism in its ambition to conquer and enslave the world.
The fall of Israel and the slaughter of its people would be celebrated
throughout the Islamic world and strengthen the call for world wide
jihad.
We have a new President and Secretary of State whose conceit and egos
will drive them to formulate yet another “peace plan” in pursuit of
international acclaim and self-promotion. Neither Obama nor Clinton has
the humility to recognize that peace in the Middle East is impossible.
Both are viewed by our enemies as weak, inexperienced and political
glory seekers. Unfortunately it is Israel that will have to endure the
folly of their meddling and over-estimation of their abilities.
When the
world makes it clear and forcefully punishes the Islamists for their
aggression, we may enjoy an interlude of peace. When the world does to
the Islamic nations what they have tried to do to Israel, we may have an
interlude of peace. When the world stops “humanitarian aid” that is used
to fund armaments, propaganda and terrorism emanating from Gaza, Lebanon
and the West Bank, we may have an interlude of peace. When the world
recognizes that Islam is a sworn enemy of everything non-Islamic, it may
find the fortitude to do what should be done, but don’t count on it. |
