Are We Closer to 1938 Than We Realize?

What is America’s biggest threat...moral decline? Islamic fundamentalism? National debt? Credit nightmares? To some it is simply the “all powerful and intrusive Jews”. The Jews control all media, our economy, who gets elected president, our entertainment business and moral downfall. Of course, we would never dream of turning on the Jews, as those pesky Germans did with Hitler at the helm. We are about freedom, civil liberties and equality for everyone aren’t we? We are civilized and certain types of oppression and evil would never enter our heads. Right?

How is it that Germany, one of the most civilized countries on earth in 1938, with the best literacy rate, top scientists, theologians and musical artists – basically culture...pie...squared – wound up being complicate in leading and organizing, even to the point of body clean, up one of the largest and most gruesome mass murders in the history of the world? What were the elements of this evil within Germany and are there things we should watch for in our own culture and country right now?

Germans in 1938 were depressed about their national identity and esteem. They were still reeling from losing World War I. In addition, their economy was struggling, unemployment was high and they were looking for a way back to national health and pride. Before Hitler showed up, Jews were considered peculiar and second-class. Once Hitler showed up he worked the national needs and wounds of the German people. He created a scapegoat, the scapegoat that had manifested all their country’s problems; national security, immigration issues, economic struggles, unemployment, and problems with watering down the German blood line, thus potentially destroying the Germans and their future.

Hitler didn’t speak about burning and experimenting on Jewish babies, burning Mom’s in ovens and torturing families. His well-delivered and successful propaganda campaign created of an enemy that was destroying the German people. Because of Hitler’s propaganda successes, millions looked the other way, even clergy turned on the Jews. After all, they were the people who killed Jesus weren’t they? Many felt that they were justified in doing nothing to help the Jews or in surrendering whole families to the Gestapo.

Is it so much different now with the breaches in moral judgment that would lead parts of Europe and even Canada to accept Sharia law in some courts just to appease the Muslims? Even the Archbishop of Canterbury, representative of the largest Christian denomination in Britain, recently was making a case for acceptance of elements of Sharia law in Britain since their Muslim population is significant.

There are Muslims in this country who push for the same, special treatment, both in our societal construct and within our legal system. Never mind that Sharia law talks of the beating of wives for simply being high handed with a husband, executing husbands or wives for adultery, executing all gays, cutting off hands for robbery and eye-for-eye vengeance, just to name a few legal and religious principles incorporated into Sharia law. Is this madness, this abomination of Natural Law, any different then wiping out those Jewish infidels who have allegedly so persecuted the desperate Palestinians?

Canada and Europe are civilized nations and allies. They have weathered the horrors and bloody memories of World War II and exist today having witnessed the barbarous evil of the holocaust. Even so, they are allowing Sharia law to encroach on their legal systems; they are facilitating the creation of Sharia courts amongst their Muslim communities simply to appease ever-expanding Muslim population. Is the encroaching cult ideology of Islamic fundamentalism throughout Europe going to metastasize into the 21st Century’s version of the Nazi movement; a movement that surreptitiously targets Jews and Christians while getting elected to public office in an effort to affect Sharia-friendly legislation? Is Western Civilization standing perilously apathetic as the fundamentalist Islamist culture manipulates our legal system via the lawsuit while initiating a campaign of intimidation aimed at teachers and School administrators meant to achieve the rewriting of curriculum in schools to reflect an inaccurate history of Islam and Sharia?

Perhaps the most worrisome aspect to this troublesome expansion of totalitarian ideology is how so many of our politicians, preachers, teachers, professors and media folk use the many real issues to seduce the public into believing their pseudo-intellectual “authority” on the issues, only afterward labeling the Jews as the culprits. By that time, the lazy, the apathetic follower is sucked in, duped, just as the gullible Germans of Hitler’s Era were.

Jews are just one group being maligned, but who could be next given the climate in our country today? The ideological lunacy offered up in the recent withdrawn DHS threat analysis report gives us a clue: US military veterans; folks who are supportive of our Second Amendment; pro-sovereignty people; pro-lifers; those wanting less taxation; those supportive of limited government; and on and on...

As our country moves forward along a path to an undecided future, we would be wise to remember that our government was created through the will of the people, through a covenant created by the people; The Charters of Freedom. We have the power of oversight but that oversight is only as potent as our devotion to civic responsibility. Freedom, liberty, has a price.
