A Constitutional Convention?
In a Word...Treason
December 20, 2008
There are some things I have always thought wouldn’t
be in question or jeopardy from the powers that be
in the US, but the skeletal structure of our very
country, our precious and unique Constitution may
now be in question.
1787 was the last time
a Constitutional Convention was called, simply to replace the Articles
of Confederation with the US Constitution. These were committed patriots
who had fought for their country and Constitution, protecting our
freedoms. Now, from the 1970s onward there have been those in Congress
pushing to get a vote of at least 34 states to convene a Constitutional
Convention. What ever for?
This effort from hell
apparently has renewed vigor with a far Leftist Congress and far Leftist
President. Why touch this treasured document? The rational of, sadly
even Conservatives behind this, is to meet and create a balanced budget
amendment. The Democrats want this convention to deal with some of the
"problematic sections,” and "sections that don’t reflect our current
social values”...so they say.
Just last night on my
show I spoke with Chuck Michaelis the vice president of the Institute
for Principled Policy. His group, along with the bold efforts and mail
outs of Tom DeWeese of American Policy.org, confronted a vote this last
Wednesday in Ohio about this convention happening. With the pressure
these groups created, it was turned down, thank God. That would have
left only 1 more state to convene a Constitutional Convention.
The Institute for
Principled Policy has warned:
"Kiss the second
amendment goodbye, in favor of the collective right to self-defense,
meaning no private ownership of firearms or other weapons.”
Michaelis also warned
about an attempt to carve out the North American Union and submit our
classic sovereignty to an International Governing body. There are also
desires to "update” the Constitution to reflect values of our culture
and our times. These would mean a push for more gay, special rights,
children’s rights, limiting if not trashing parents rights, potentially
submitting them also to an International and legal supervisor.
I asked Michaelis if a
group of delegates from 34 states (If that vote is achieved. It is at 32
votes for it now) would actually have the power to rewrite or modernize
the Constitution without the vote of the people? He said absolutely.
They can vote to do things in secret, adapt, ad to and curtail the
original Constitution if they want.
I’m not saying that all
the folks behind the strong push over the years for this convention want
to trash our Constitution but there are many and current, Leftist,
anti-American, internationalist worldviews that would gladly do just
that. They aren’t just the Democrats either! You see, sovereignty is
almost hate speech to some. We need to be conformed and manipulated into
the North American Union and submit our Bill of Rights and Constitution
to an international governing body. You realize of course that gun
rights are just referring to "collective” militia rights, not
individual’s rights to own guns!!!! Do you see yet where this will
likely go???
With such a Leftist
Congress and Leftist new President, convening a Constitutional
Convention in my view would be like receiving a box of terminal cancer
for Christmas!!!
There is nothing
to discuss. There is nothing to change. Our precious and
miraculous Constitution is our country’s skeleton and our national
heritage and guide. It reflects huge amounts of blood and sacrifice and
God’s own spirit. How dare any Republican (and there certainly
are some) or Democrat push for a Constitutional Convention to assert
any kind of change?!!!
I’m a shy type of chick
so I will call it like it is...any change to our constitution or bill
of rights is treason!!!!!!!
Folks you need to get
connected and monitor this effort which has been raising its ugly head
since the 1970s...now there is momentum again.
Call and write your
legislators and say a big no to convening a
Constitutional Convention!!! Ohio voted no on this because of strong
intervention of "the people” under the strong leadership of Institute
for Principled Policy and Tom DeWeese and the American Policy.org. You
