Blanche Lincoln (D-AR) stood on the Senate floor and said,
"This gives us an opportunity to reach out to these hardworking Americans
and give them the same opportunity of relief from this tax bill that we're
giving everybody else in this country." It was quite the compassionate thing
to do. But there are some problems with Ms. Lincoln’s take on this and we
can start with the fact that these "hard working Americans” don’t pay any
taxes in the first place. Now, that’s a tax break!
The
liberals in Washington would have us all believe that the "working poor” are
being left out of the relief that is being afforded the "rich” in this
country, if you can call making $50K being rich. They couldn’t be more
wrong. The "working poor”, as they are defined by the compassionate, all
caring liberals, don’t pay any taxes. They do not add to the coffers that
create the budget from which the Congress overspends each year. This is the
main reason they were not included in the original tax cut package.
Let me break it down even more and simplify it for those liberals who got
lost on the Internet highway and found themselves here in horror I would
imagine. If you don’t pay taxes you shouldn’t be eligible for a tax cut!
Why? Because you pay no taxes! I don’t know how to put it in simpler or
terms more fair. One cannot receive tax relief if one doesn’t pay taxes.
This isn’t the PGA where Annika Sorenstum tried to rise to the
next level and found the door resistant to open. This is about simple
mathematics. What Ms. Sorenstum did was to apply her talents to a new
challenge. This is about applying one’s wallet and those whom the liberals
in Washington are trying to include do not apply anything. Zilch. Nada. Yet
they want you and I, the people who do pay into the public trough to allow
them to feed off of it as if they had.
Isn’t it enough that those who do not pay into the system benefit from
everything the system has to offer? Every single thing funded by the
almighty tax dollar that is offered to the public is absolutely free to
those who pay no taxes. For the taxpayer it is not free, it comes at a cost,
usually around thirty-plus percent of a paycheck. When the taxpayers use the
roads they have paid for them, those who pay no taxes have not. When the
taxpayers send their kids to school they have paid for their education,
those who pay no taxes have not. When the taxpayers see their military
employed in an effort to keep our country and the world safer they have paid
for it, those who pay no taxes have not. Simply put, those who pay no taxes
have it pretty damn good in the United States of America and they haven’t
paid dime one for what they get. That is quite different from how the
taxpayers have it.
Now, the liberals in Washington want to take part of the public coffer, $400
check per child by $400 check per child, and give it to people who don’t pay
into it at all, all at a cost to you, the taxpayer. That’s a pretty good day
at the office if you ask me. I wouldn’t mind doing nothing and receiving a
paycheck for it. But then I would be enrolled in the welfare system and my
pride tends to lean toward thinking that if I were to fall on hard times I
would take two jobs, one at McDonald’s and one at Burger King. This way I
would be making an income, getting at least two free meals a day and pulling
my weight instead of weighing on the backs of others. But then, that’s just
me and my silly pride. It seems that to be industrious in this day in age is
to attract the contempt and scorn of the idle. Who would want to do that
when one can exist at the expense of others, right?
But let’s move on from the pontificating, as I do not want to seem
uncompassionate thus drawing the ire of the Hillary crowd.
Let’s look at where the money is coming from for this "grand inclusion” the
liberals want to establish with our tax dollars, out of the kindness of
their hearts. They put forth that an increase in Customs fees will bankroll
the entire package. It’s as clear cut and elementary as that (simplicity –
an odd concept for a city such as Washington DC). But in the back of their
mouths, as they smile and court our guilt, I can’t help but believe that
something more sinister is in the offing. When one looks at the philosophy
being employed it is easy to see the monster hiding in the closet just
waiting for the perfect time to spring out and eat us all. That monster is
called getting something for nothing. This philosophy and practice can only
end in problematic financial heartache and political regret.
There is never anything free in this world. Everything comes at a price. The
point is this, if we are to be an inclusive society here in the United
States we need to be very careful about how it is set-up. There is no reason
why we cannot have a compassionate society. As the most advanced and
prosperous nation on the face of the planet, we should. People should not
have to go without the basic necessities when at all possible. What we do
have to establish is a fairness that can allow all to feel included. Taking
from the rich, or in the case the able, and redistributing their wealth, or
in this case again – their ability, is a very dangerous practice to get
into. Some may call it akin to socialism. I just call it dangerous.
