Has American Independence Come Full Circle on the 4th of July?

For 232 years, Americans have celebrated our freedom and independence from oppressive rule and restrictive control over our lives on the 4th of July. I now fear that this may be coming to an end, and the last time we will be celebrating our freedom and independence without feeling like hypocrites.

Oh, the Independence Day holiday will still remain but it won’t mean much anymore other than a day to set off fireworks and enjoy barbecues. The media will talk a lot about how we established our freedom from British rule and founded our own country, but don’t look for them to espouse the American values that were established to form a foundation for our country to operate by.

Did Obama learn economics from Mathew Lesko? You may have seen Lesko's after midnight commercials for his "Free Money" book scam on how to get "free money" from the government - "because you live in America!" Getting money from the government is the last thing the Founders had in mind when they founded this country. Their idea was for a government to ensure the opportunity for its citizens to earn and keep their own money.

The Founding Fathers designed a government with limited powers and guaranteed rights to the citizens to grow and develop in their own ways, to take personal responsibility for their own lives, and to not expect government to act as a "sugar daddy” to anyone with the taxpayers’ money. Taxes are authorized by the Constitution for the sole purpose of supporting government functions and nothing more. This limitation on government has been largely ignored over the past century but now it’s getting worse - much worse.

Since Obama and the radical left have taken over our government, we have seen our liberties being ripped out from under us one by one at an alarming pace. We have been watching our tax money be unconstitutionally misappropriated and redistributed in a federal Ponzi scheme that has run up more American debt than can ever be paid back. Obama has taken Mathew Lesko's "free money" concept, mixed it with a dose of Bernie Madoff, and turned it into national policy at the expense of free enterprise and state's sovereignty.

With government buying up and taking over banks and industries, will these assets then have to be put up as collateral to pay for our national debt? Will these American institutions end up being sold off to the Chinese, the Japanese, Saudi Arabia, and others when those debts are foreclosed on? Will America not only lose its sovereignty, but it's commerce as well to foreign powers? Is the Federal Reserve helping to destroy our economy by merging our capital reserves with foreign banking powers? (assuming we have any capital reserves. No one really knows because just like ACORN, the Fed won‘t open its books to auditors.)

Where will our freedom and independence be when all major commerce in America is dictated and controlled by politicians, global socialists, the World Bank, and the United Nations? The Bush Administration set the stage for the Obama takeover by authorizing TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) and the first $787 billion "stimulus bill” which initially distributed about $500 to every taxpayer in the country to encourage individual spending.

Obama then kicked the U.S. Treasury door wide open and began passing out trillions of dollars, that the treasury didn’t even have, to all of his radical left special interest lobbyists, unions, and green energy promoters. Did you get a "stimulus check from Obama” Of course not, unless you were among his chosen few.

Now the country’s national debt in unfunded liabilities and commitments is up to $99 trillion and climbing. There is no way we can even borrow that much money from the entire world. Are we now headed for a national emergency where the government will take everything we earn in taxes to deal with it? Then we will get a monthly allowance from the government to live on while we sit and ponder over when America became a communist country.

This is where we are now headed and yet the polls show that nearly half of the country still approves of the direction we are going in. Is this because half of all Americans are hard core socialists, or because they are still in love with Obama, or is it simply because they are ignorant of what is going on in America that the media isn’t telling them?

Freedom, Liberty, and Free Market Capitalism is what built this country and made it great. It is what sets America apart from other countries, and why people from all over the world want to migrate here. Obama, Pelosi, and the rest of the Marxists in our government are determined to destroy all that, and know they have a very limited time in office to do it. The only way to deal with this enormous debt is to repeal all of these Obama programs once Democrats are thrown out of office and out of power, which should start with the next election.

Obama and the Democrats have been coming up with all sorts of legislation to control the economy in areas such as banking, energy, automotive, and healthcare. When confronted with objections, then will put forth the defense that congressional Republicans have offered no alternative ideas to their bills.

While some Republicans have, in fact, offered alternative ideas and amendments to Democrat legislation, they are consistently rejected by the Democrat leaders, Pelosi and Reid, who will not allow their ideas to be brought to the floor of Congress, and the media won‘t reveal them. Other Republicans maintain the position that the initial premise is all wrong, and that the legislation should never have been proposed in any form, but rather left up to the states to choose for themselves in accordance with the 9^th and 10^th Amendments.

This is my view as well, and that is the real problem here; it is not the job of the federal government to involve itself in matters not authorized to it by the Constitution. Why should Republicans offer suggestions and amendments to Democrat legislation that has no legitimate business being introduced or debated in Congress? The debate should not be over enhancing or amending bad legislation - the debate should be over the very existence and validity of the legislation in the first place.

A growing number of states are now acting on their own behalf to insure their 9^th and 10^th Amendment rights under the Constitution. They have simply had it with this federal government and its interference in state’s rights and sovereignty. Legislation is being passed in the legislatures of many states that tells the federal government that their radical rules and restrictions imposed on states will simply not be respected and obeyed. They are, in essence, telling the federal government to "but out” of their business.

At the pace at which Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," and Mathew Lesko’s "Free Money” programs are replacing our national Constitution in Washington D.C., by this time next year we will have no freedom and independence left to celebrate on the 4th of July. The fireworks will simply be a reminder of what was once a free and just America.
