America is in peril. The American political landscape has radically changed in just the six short years of the current administration's actions and policies reinforced by the mainstream media. That hope and change promoted by the political progressive machine is clearly seen now as transformation to progressive socialist policies and are in full swing as evidenced in the federal government take over of healthcare and the actions of the Justice department, IRS, SCOTUS and State department. Many conservatives addressed this risk of socialist and Marxist ideology schemes and conspiracies in the 2008 and 2012 elections and in countless forums and commentaries. It is now reality. In 2014, what was thought to be a conservative awakening with republicans winning the control of congress was a façade. Today, there is a clear and present danger to restoring the American Dream. It comes from progressive socialist policies that present to voters a stark choice for the future and maybe for the last time. America is on a precipice; about to go beyond the point of no return with the potential of electing a third term of progressives disguised by the MSM in deceptive lies and double speak. The deceit and fabrications spewed by the DNC and Clinton campaign are right out of the Saul Alinsky playbook. Do the research.
America as we know it cannot survive the progressive agenda that continues to erode our individual liberties and infringe upon us all. Stepping back to a constitutionally sound government will take a real awakening of the 72% that consider themselves conservatives or moderates and esteem to such values. It will take a courageous nominee team that will clearly articulate the risk to our nation and develop the plans to mitigate that risk with corrective, actionable resolve. It will take a grass roots conservative movement rising to the occasion and carrying the constitutional standard that will walk us back from that precipice.
"...That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."
Before addressing the 'how' to return to our constitutional origins, there is a necessity to reemphasize what the Constitution decrees that our federal government should provide. In an article on the Constitutional Role of the Federal Government, Zbigniew Mazurak writes:
The Constitution's Preamble says the federal government was established (and the Constitution was adopted) to "form a more perfect union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."
The Constitution's articles, and the subsequent Amendments, specify the prerogatives of the Feds. They are listed in Article I, Sec. 8; Articles II-V; Amendments XIII-XVI, XIX-XX, XXIII-XXVI. These prerogatives belong to one of the following categories:
- Defense, war prosecution, peace, foreign relations, foreign commerce, and interstate commerce;
- The protection of citizens' constitutional rights (e.g the right to vote) and ensuring that slavery remains illegal;
- Establishing federal courts inferior to the SCOTUS;
- Copyright protection;
- Coining money;
- Establishing post offices and post roads;
- Establishing a national set of universal weights and measures;
- Taxation needed to raise revenue to perform these essential functions.
Those are the only prerogatives of the Feds. The Tenth Amendment states that all prerogatives not explicitly given to the Federal Government, nor prohibited of the states, are reserved to the states or to the people (i.e. individual Americans). So the Feds are not allowed to handle any issues not explicitly listed in the Constitution; their prerogatives are limited to what the Constitution explicitly states.
James Madison, the principal original author of that document's original text who also wrote the first 10 Amendments, wrote in the Federalist Papers that "The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite." (Federalist Paper #45, paragraph #9)
This clearly articulates what the federal government should be undertaking and ALL else falls to state and local governments and "We the People". The call and challenge to conservatives is to bring back the precepts of less federal government, capitalism and free enterprise, individual liberty, and self-reliance. The conservative movement must articulate the "how" we are to make America great again and appeal to its base, independents, moderates, minorities, and blue dog democrats. The "how" should center on issues that impact the majority of all Americans no matter what their economic stature. The results must be improvements to the daily lives of Americans that are tangible and rational. The following elements design a starting strategy that conservatives can build upon that will generate noteworthy results. These seven tenets fall within the purview of issues prescribed to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States:
Defense of the Homeland
Our country is threatened on many fronts from cyber attacks to Islamic terror. Preemptive strikes should be at the forefront of policy on terrorism. Take the fight to the enemy. Fight on all fronts – domestically, informationally, militarily, and economically. Reverse isolationist policies – LEAD from strength vice weakness. Additionally, gain control of domestic crime (deporting felony illegal aliens will support gaining some semblance of control.) Reestablish trust in law enforcement, grassroots to National agencies.
First, stop the flood of illegal aliens (IA), translated as Border Control. Walls work when supported by law enforcement and the military. Berlin and Israel come to mind. Second, Expel all criminal IAs that have committed felonies, no longer will there be tax dollars to support IA criminals, this will also reduce crime rates across the country. Next, determine a process for establishing a compassionate method of assimilation by those breaking the immigration laws but trying to provide for their families. This should include penalties and establishing an order process for legally becoming an American citizens for current IAs who are here honestly for a better life. This includes the anchor baby families. Finally, enact laws that will negate the anchor baby pattern or convene a constitutional amendment process for disillusionment of anchor baby loopholes in our laws.
Balance the budget. Set the conditions for job creation by tax reduction, private investment, infrastructure investment and incentives to bring the trillion plus dollars from overseas back to our economy. Reduce government waste by overhauling social benefits and eliminating pork. Overturn Obamacare, replace with free market cross state healthcare programs that include benefits for existing illness. Total tax reform. Implement a flat tax and VAT, dissolve the IRS in 4 year transition.
Military & Diplomatic Restoration
Rebuild & revitalize our military. Engage terrorism around the world – do not retreat – take the fight to the enemy anywhere and everywhere. Support our allies, support Israel. Advocate democracy with overseas partnerships. Repeal any agreement or treaty with Iran. Build a coalition in the Arabian Gulf similar to NATO in order to combat Iranian aggression, a Gulf of Arabia Treaty Organization, coalition of the willing.
Embrace #AllLivesMatter, to include the unborn. Reestablish right to life - start by defunding Planned Parenthood and outlaw marketing of body parts from murdered babies. Restore mental health facilities – support state/local needs. Affirm DOMA as the law of the land; decentralize domestic partnerships to state matters. Nominate conservative Supreme Court justices and conservative lower court judges.
Develop policies establishing English as the national language, reestablish 3R basics and devolve to states and local education boards. Incentivize service to our country. Emphasize collegiate math, science, engineering studies and return to technical training schools.
Finally and foremost, America was founded on Judeo/Christian values regardless of how the progressives try to rewrite history. The return to our constitutional heritage is paramount for America to recover from the deception of the progressive's lies. The United States Constitution directly and unequivocally asserts that man's unalienable Rights are 'endowed by their Creator." Nowhere does the constitution say that our government should be free 'from' religion, as the left would have you believe. Rather, our constitution advocates freedom of religion. Not dictating a national religion, but giving the individual the freedom to choose as one would want to believe. It is the free choice of every American and the freedom for that choice to influence their lives and application of their values and those like-minded to everyday life. An American Spiritual awakening is imperative. Returning to America's heritage of Judeo/Christian values will certainly recover our prosperity and safety.

As these tenets and associated issues are advanced during the election process, conservatives must identify actions that will bring to fulfillment improvements to these basic tenets. Action plans that will accomplish the basic roles of government and provide Americans with options and pros and cons for each will bring clarity where there is vagueness and ambiguity. Lay out the risks and effects if action is taken or not taken. Develop plans, debate them, and determine the best options that achieve the best results. Garner buy-in from 'We the People' and representatives in both houses of congress and put into action starting day one.
When issues and improvement plans are laid out in plain language and show the effects of prudent actions, Americans will get it and support it. Our future generations are dependent upon resolving these great challenges of our day. To battle the deception and lies of the progressive socialist, courage is needed to reaffirm the truth and take the action needed to turn America back from despotism and lead us to the 'We the People" pathway our forefathers intended for our democracy.
