That's what we've learned from Planned Parenthood.
Amidst all the talk about women's rights and fighting oppression, there is also apparently the business of slicing and dicing aborted babies into parts that interest so-called researchers. Those parts each have a price tag.
And the money from that goes into Planned Parenthood's pocket.
It's not profit, Planned Parenthood promises, it's just "operating expenses."
And there sure are a lot of them.
Just like there sure were a lot of protests yesterday outside Planned Parenthood offices across the country. It wasn't just the old ladies fingering their rosaries this time. It was dozens of people at most locations, hundreds at others, and the reporters were listening.
And instead of portraying any pro-life voice as kooky, the reporters mostly listened and repeated respectfully.
Because this is just wrong.
America is divided over whether abortion is choice or homicide, and that division isn't apt to go away. But almost everyone is horrified by the notion of fetal humans being cut apart by abortionists and put up for sale.
Supposedly it's for research.
What kind of research?
And who's doing it?
Is it industrial research, looking for new skin softeners? Is it medical research, at the university on the river or the hill? Is it for classroom instruction, like the cats they dissect in high school?
Who buys these baby parts?
And for what purpose?
Those questions must be answered.
And so must questions about Planned Parenthood accounting.
For example, how many parts a year does the Planned Parenthood in your town sell? And how much money does that bring in? And what percentage of your Planned Parenthood's budget comes from selling baby parts?
There is big money in this, and it is going into Planned Parenthood's pocket.
There are also uncomfortable questions about race and class to be answered.
Black babies are disproportionately aborted across America. In New York, health department numbers show as many black abortions each year as black births. If black babies are disproportionately aborted, are black babies then also disproportionately cut up and sold?
And if Planned Parenthood disproportionately performs abortions for poor women, which it does, does it then also disproportionately sell the dismembered fetuses of poor women?
Does it turn out that Planned Parenthood disproportionately cuts up and sells the babies of poor and black women?
And do we feel good about that as a society?
This isn't one more criticism to shrug off as more supposed conservative misogyny. This is just plain gross.
And it must stop.
Not explained. Not minimized. Not ignored.
It must be stopped.
The Planned Parenthood in your town must pledge to stop selling the aborted children of your community. This is blood money. And though Planned Parenthood claims to be acting legally, and not profiting, it is clear that by paying the "operating expenses" of the organization through baby-organ sales, it is benefiting financially from this ghoulish practice.
So it must promise to stop.
It must pledge to treat the remains of unborn children with respect.
And it must make that pledge today.
Or the protests will just get bigger, and the calls will just get louder.
And the revulsion felt by pro-life and pro-choice alike will only grow.
