To further muddy the already dark water, the chairman of the Council of Experts, Ayatollah Reza Mahdavi-Kani, died on August 8, 2014 at the age of 83. Ayatollah Hashsemi Shahroudi is the acting chairman, and a likely candidate to replace Khomeini. The Council of Experts will meet on March 15th to elect a new chairman, a man who will have great influence in selecting the new Supreme Leader.
Grand Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran's Supreme Leader's health has to be a, if not the, major factor in determining Iran's nuclear weapons policy. Only the Supreme Leader can sign a binding agreement, and it appears Iran is dragging out the nuclear talks to keep the future Supreme Leader's options open.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in his speech to the joint session of Congress, that Obama's proposed agreement with Iran would allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons ten years after the agreement is signed. Ten years is less than the blink of an eye in Iranian thinking, so if Netanyahu is correct Iran will have nuclear weapons in ten years with America's blessing.
Another consideration, apparently not understood by the Obama administration, is Islam's interpretation of keeping a treaty with infidels. "Allah has already sanctioned for you the dissolution of your vows." Surah 66:1, and "The Prophet said, 'If I take an oath and later find something else better than that, then I do what is better and expiate my oath.'" (Bukhari 7, 67, 427)
American policy is dictated by President Obama and voiced by Secretary of State John Kerry. So far Kerry's statements have proven to be hollow words from a hollow suit. One can only assume that our idealistic president is basing his decisions on his ultra-liberal ideology rather than facts, and that he's more concerned about his legacy than American safety. Obama and his ilk appear determine to repeat Prime Minister Chamberlin's mistakes. Chamberlin, in his infamous 1938 speech said, "This is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honor. I believe it is peace for our time." We all know how that worked out, at least I hope we do. Will Kerry come back from Geneva Switzerland with a similar message? I fear the answer is yes.
Negotiations with Iran are a replay of Great Britan's negotiations with Herr Hitler. I fear the results will be similar.
The reality of Iran's nuclear program is much different from the idealistic fantasy presented by Obama's administration. The facts are these: Iran has 19,800 spinning centrifuges; Iran has uranium mines; Iran has mastered explosive implosion; Iran has a stockpile of 20% enriched uranium stored as uranium hexafluoride salt; Iran has a heavy water reactor designed to convert U-238 to Pu-239; Iran knows how to build an implosion fission device; Iran has IRBMs and is developing ICBMs; Iran is working at top speed to develop nuclear warheads for their missiles; and Iran has its own terrorist organization, Hezbollah, capable of placing a nuclear device in any American or Israeli city.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "My friends, for over a year, we've been told that no deal is better than a bad deal. Well, this is a bad deal. It's a very bad deal. We're better off without it." The real question remains, is any meaningful deal to prevent Iran from creating a nuclear weapons stockpile of useable nuclear warheads possible? So far inspections have proven to be a farce. Only brute force in the form of crippling sanctions or military action will curb Iran's quest for the BOMB, and only a complete change of government will end it.
The current word used to obscure real facts about Iran's nuclear weapons program is "breakout"; meaning how long will it take Iran to produce enough fissle material to make a nuclear bomb? Wrong definition. Iran already has enough highly enriched uranium to make a nuclear device, and they probably have already made one. All they have to do is detonate it to become a recognized nuclear state, just as North Korea did by detonating two nuclear devices. This may be one of the cards they are holding. No, in reality breakout is the time required for Iran to set up a nuclear warhead production facility and begin producing nuclear warheads. Iran must have a stockpile of deliverable nuclear warheads to accomplish its goal: Domination of the entire Middle East and elimination of Israel.
The reality America faces this March of 2015 is an Iran seeking to take control of the Middle East and fulfill their vow to destroy Israel, the Little Satan. To accomplish its goal, Iran must become a nuclear power. Once it has nuclear weapons, it will demonstrate its willingness to use them. Arab nations will recognize this and obtain nuclear weapons to counter Iran, and the stage will be set for a nuclear war. Israel, if attacked, has the ability to wipe out most of the Middle East, something rational Arab governments realize. Iran, however, will bet on a successful first strike.
And, let us not forget that Iran's long term goal is destruction of the Great Satan, America.
Hitler could have been stopped in 1938. Hesitation and hand wringing led to WWII. Today, failure to eliminate Iran's nuclear weapons program has a very high probability of leading to the world's first nuclear war—A war that can escalate into WWIII.
